The DOJ, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team.
DOJ is currently recruiting for a Digital Evidence Specialist (Criminal Analyst) to join the Administrative Operations Bureau, Digital Evidence Section, Eau Claire Field Office located in Altoona, WI .
DCI positions are not eligible for remote work.

Position Summary This is an entry level analyst position that provides assistance in digital forensics analytical case support and electronic media analysis within DCI and to state, federal and local law enforcement.
The analyst may be assigned to any of the bureaus or units within DCI at the discretion of the Administrator.
The analyst is responsible for attaining a working knowledge in a variety of assignments, which may include digital forensics software systems; forensic analytical techniques, hardware, and software; and information systems.
The analytical support will be for digital forensics case analysis, field response, and law enforcement program support.
Analyst's job duties have a direct impact on DCI and the coordination of digital forensics analytical support between state, federal and local law enforcement agencies.
Salary Information The Digital Evidence Specialist (entry level) position is in pay schedule 07 and pay range 04.
The starting pay will be between $30.
00 and $33.
36/hr.
An add-on of up to $1.
00/hr.
may be available for candidates who are bilingual.
Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional in-state travel to other agencies and meetings including court appearances is required.
Must be eligible to drive when required for travel.
Travel to conduct digital forensics analysis in the field for the purpose of identifying and recovering digital evidence is a requirement, which may expose the analyst to dangerous situations.
The analyst may occasionally be required to work in the early morning, evening, and weekends.
Occasional overnight stays may also be required.
This position must testify in an effective manner as an expert concerning the analysis performed and the results and conclusions drawn.
Testifying in an effective manner requires remaining free of Brady or Giglio obligations.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment.
All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
An extensive background check, including fingerprints, drug screening and psychological evaluation will be completed on all DCI applicants prior to selection.
Qualifications Please address the following in your resume and/or letter of qualifications: Minimally qualified applicants must have education, training and/or work experience in the following : Using an industry-standard tool, such as X-Ways, EnCase, FTK, Cellebrite, or Magnet AXIOM.
Conducting digital forensic examination activities.
Analyzing large and/or complex datasets.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have education, training, and/or work experience in one or more the following: Performing digital forensic examination activities in support of criminal investigations.
Providing expert witness testimony in a court proceeding.
Producing high-quality written work product that presents complex technical matters clearly and concisely.
