POSITION: A full-time, professional academic staff position is available in the Advising, Retention + Career Center beginning May 20, 2024.
The working title for this assignment is Associate Director of Advising with an official title of Academic Advising Associate Director (Inst).
This is a renewable assignment.
The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A master's degree from a regionally accredited institution Experience working with college students, specifically in academic advising Previous supervisory experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds Previous experience working with students of diverse backgrounds such as students of color, nontraditional students, veterans, etc.
Ability to plan, organize, and meet goals Knowledge of and ability to apply current best practices in student development theory when developing/modifying policies and practices Ability to develop innovative approaches to program planning Knowledge of programming related to advising and academic support Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and collegial relationships with campus constituencies (e.
g.
, staff, faculty, students, etc.
) and building effective teams as needed Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information and records Knowledge of major and career exploration best practices Ability to oversee administrative process in an efficient and organized manner Work with innovation and creativity while supporting university guideposts and goals Skill and technical proficiency in PeopleSoft and EAB Navigate360 DUTIES: Hire, train, and supervise lead advisors, academic advisors in the Advising, Retention and Career Center.
Serve as the primary supervisor for 8 Lead Advisors and secondary supervisor for 22 Academic Advisors.
Assess programming needs and oversees the development of programming initiatives in the advising center, including a peer advising program Implements assessment practices for academic advising Coordinates resources and best practices of advising for special populations including at risk, probation/suspension, undeclared, transfer, non-traditional, veteran, international and prospective students Advise a small caseload of students Represents the department on various committees and work groups, and acting on behalf of Director of Academic Advising as requested Other duties as assigned THE UNIT: The Advising, Retention + Career Center consists of 40 staff members.
The office consists of Academic Advising, Career Services, New Student Programs and Academic Testing.
