Responsibilities We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Strategy to collaborate with executive clinical and administrative leaders for the Mayo Clinic Health System.
The Director will partner with leadership to develop, prioritize, refine and help implement strategic opportunities and choices that expedite Mayo Clinic’s strategic goals.
The Director must possess an innovative mindset and be willing to challenge institutional norms, serve as a thought partner, and develop solutions and programs that advance Mayo Clinic’s strategic priorities.
The Director works with the broader Strategy team to coordinate and ensure a cohesive approach to the timely delivery of high-quality outcomes.
Additionally, the Director is expected to lead by example by embodying a culture of teamwork, transparency, and excellence that fosters diversity of thought, curiosity, and a welcoming work environment.
The Director of Strategy is expected to be a change agent for the organization and introduce novel concepts, ideas, and work conventions to co-develop pathways for leaders to execute and scale.
The Director of Strategy is a leader in the department and will be responsible for leading or supporting departmental, divisional, and institutional projects, providing oversight of team members, recruiting staff, implementing policies, and managing expenses.
As a consultant for internal strategy, the Director is expected to contribute to staff development and training activities as needed.
Responsibilities: Serve as a key strategist and partner to Mayo Clinic Health System leadership.
Assist with executive briefs, lead strategic planning and reporting, and develop strategic choices using data driven approaches.
Lead strategic projects individually or as a member of a broader Strategy team.
Shortcut time to understanding of local market trends or client pain points when working with broader Strategy teams.
Possess a strong understanding and domain of health care financial management.
Maintain a working knowledge of technological advancements of strategic relevance across the healthcare and business industry overall.
Evaluate the impact of the latest market forces in the health care industry to help inform the choices made by our department leaders.
*This position is a combination of remote and onsite support work.
Individual must live within driving distance to one of the Mayo Clinic Health Systems sites and may be required to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications • Bachelor's degree required.
• Eight (8) years of healthcare experience with focus on strategy, client services, engineering, project management or operations.
• Seven (7) years of people leadership experience preferred.
Additional Qualifications: • Previous experience in corporate strategy or management consulting, including performing or leading market assessments, data analysis, organizational transformations and evaluating or facilitating external partnerships.
• Familiarity with healthcare financial management, strategic planning, and reporting.
• Working knowledge of technological advancements relevant to healthcare strategy.
• Continuous awareness of market forces in the healthcare industry.
• Experience working in an Academic Medical Center is highly desirable.
• A master’s degree in business or healthcare, with a preference for concentrations in strategy, financial management, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
• Growth mindset with the ability to generate novel ideas grounded in reliable strategic concepts.
• Proficiency in preparing and presenting at executive-level meetings.
• Resilient change agent comfortable working autonomously under pressure.
• Relationship-focused with a strong balance of EQ and IQ.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating strong executive presence.
