Responsibilities
Caring for 34,000 patients per year, the Eau Claire Hospital Emergency Department is Mayo Clinic’s NW WI regional hub site and is a level 2 trauma center.
The Eau Claire site is the main training/orientation site for Mayo Clinic’s EM NPs PAs within the region.
NPs PAs provides 24/7 practice coverage alongside their physician colleagues.
The NP PA serves as an independent provider, collaborates with physicians and works with a variety of other healthcare professionals.
The NP PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of pharmacological agents, and patient education.
The NP PA will also perform a variety of procedures including laceration repair, I&D, and lumbar puncture, etc.
Our practice is unique in that we start with an onboarding process that assesses your skillset in order to provide the proper training that’s tailored specifically to you.
Mayo Clinic values the skills and expertise of the NP PA in Emergency Medicine and our goal is for you able to practice safely and confidently as a solely provider in one of our critical access hospitals.
An NP PA Emergency Medicine Fellowship was started in 2014 to develop further support and train NPs PAs in Emergency Medicine.
These NP PA fellows rotate thought this site as part of the practice.

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Wisconsin RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP
OR
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Wisconsin State Board of Medical Practice.
An unrestricted prescriptive authority in Wisconsin, (Wisconsin Board of Medical Examiners and DEA).
BLS, ACLS (CALS and PALS or ATLS) certifications are preferred by the time of starting the position and are required by completion of orientation.
Emergency Medicine Fellowship, or 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience is preferred but not required.
