CENTRAL SERVICE TECHNICIAN I:
JOB SUMMARY
The Central Service Technician (CST) I is responsible for receiving, cleaning, decontaminating, assembling and disinfecting and/or sterilizing reusable medical and surgical devices for safe and effective patient care for various hospital and clinic departments.
The CST I must process and distribute instruments, patient care equipment and other medical devices in an accurate, timely and dependable manner to enhance the quality of patient care.
The CST I is knowledgeable and adheres to regulations, standards and recommended practices for the Sterile Processing department.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Currently enrolled in/attending/completed an accredited HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) sterile processing technician program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA).
